"Every session impacted me and deepened my faith. I only wish I had the CCC when my children were young. How beautiful our faith is. How I wish I had this course sooner." - Parishioner, SAB Parish
In honor of the Year of Faith, we wanted to do a Lenten study on how to use the Catechism. So my colleague and I ravaged the internet for a solid study; but we came up empty. We found some great resources that explicitly use the CCC as they present various aspects of the Catholic faith, but nothing to help me (or you) to do the same. We did come across some solid material by Cardinals Schonborn and Ratzinger, which was very helpful in the creation of this study, but still, it wasn't the kind of "how to" we were looking for. The best we found, by far, was The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Craft of Catechesis, by Barbara Morgan and Petroc Willey. In fact, we owe more to that book than to all the rest of our sources combined.
"I feel that all six sessions worked together well, and I learned so much from each talk. I feel very comfortable now with the CCC -- now that I've learned the 'tools' taught in these classes." - Parishioner, SAB Parish
Unlock the Catechism began as a 6-week Lenten study, and has evolved into a comprehensive catechumenate for our R.C.I.A. class, as well as a "Do-it-yourself" study complete with an easy-to-read book, and a supplemental audio series. Whether you're interested in the 6-week catechist study, the 11-week R.C.I.A. Edition (which works great for us ordinary folks in the pews as well), or an individual "on-your-own-time" study, the book provides the content. There's a Leader's Guide and downloadable audio presentations as well, each of which have been designed to help guide you through the workshops in the Participant Workbook/Personal Study Guide. The book does stand alone, but, by itself, you won't receive the "how to" knowledge that makes this study truly unique.
